Final Year Urban Study Booklet - 2021

The booklet represents an extensive urban analysis of a Confucius temple situated in Kunming, China. This urban study stands as a pivotal component of my third-year university project. Our group devoted meticulous efforts to ensuring the thoroughness of this study, aiming to comprehensively understand the contextual backdrop against which our design proposal will unfold. The Confucius temple finds its place within the esteemed 'Wenming Block,' one of Kunming's two remaining heritage blocks. In an effort to preserve the city's traditional charm, certain structures were retained in 2006, while others are slated for replacement with similar materials. However, it is noteworthy that the surroundings already boast numerous towering, western-influenced edifices. As a result, the Confucius site emerges as a distinct acknowledgment of China's profound architectural heritage and cultural legacy, serving as a poignant reminder of its significance amidst the ever-evolving urban landscape.

Hyperloop Campus Competition - 2020

The Desert Dune competition marked my inaugural foray into the world of architectural competitions. Collaborating with a group predominantly comprised of second and third-year students from Huddersfield's School of Architecture, this project proved instrumental during the transition from my second to third year, offering invaluable insights into effective group dynamics and the professional environment I could anticipate in my future career.

The members of our group were undoubtedly adept at producing exceptional work for university assignments. However, when it came to competitions, we were all relatively new and eager to test our abilities. In hindsight, our optimism may have been overly ambitious, attempting to tackle such a substantial project as our first competition endeavor. While the results may not have met my initial expectations, this experience provided a remarkable opportunity for introspection and growth, allowing me to identify areas for improvement that will undoubtedly prove invaluable in upcoming competitions.
